watt, switches to 2.5 watt. single-ended Class A. The design was based on a Fender "Champ" single-ended Class "A". (Like all Fender amplifiers, there have been several models using the same name.) It resulted in our incorporating the early "Champ" which had just a volume control, and their later model, which included treble and bass tone controls. This was achieved by adding an EQ switch which simply switched out the EQ stack. Since the initial design, we have added a power reducer which cuts the power down to 3 watts. The simplicity of design ensures low background noise, making both amplifiers ideal for home and studio recording. Both the Romany and the Romany Plus have Jensen speakers, along with some classic tweaks to give a nice, classy, clean tone. The Romany and the Romany Plus are finished in black on green covering as standard. |

| エリックアンプストーリー デニスコーネル氏自らDC Developmentsがどのようにしてエリッククラプトンのアンプの問題を解決することになったのかについて語ってくれました。 「思いがけずエリッククラプトンのギターテクニシャンから電話をもらい、僕宛の手紙を預かっていると言われたんだ。エリックは、サウンドに問題をかかえていて、それを僕ならなんとかできるはずだと書いてあった。彼は２台のツインアンプを使っていたが、それがもはやツインアンプとしての音をださなくなっていると言っていた。 すべての作業は、エリックのギターテクニシャンであるリー・ディクソンと綿密に打ち合わせをしながら行われた。彼は、エリックの音を誰よりも知っていたからだ。リーは、とっても協力的で、彼とはトーンだけでなく、機能や外観をどうするかについてもかなりの時間を一緒に費やした。そしてついに僕らは、エリックの古いTWINアンプにかぎりなく近くて、それでいてミッドのきいたブルースサウンドを作り上げることができた。 僕らは、チャンネルを２つ作ることにした。チャンネル１は、ボリューム、ベースとトレブルで成り立っている。イコライザは、エリックの１９５６年製ツインアンプに近いもので、トーンの調整に左右されることなく、温かみのあるミッドレスポンスが効いている。それは、とても単純な、”差し込めばOK”といったものだった。 出力ステージは4本の6L6出力チューブを使用していて、余裕で80ワット出力できるクラスA/Bで動作させている。さらに20ワットに出力を減らす電源スイッチがある。スピーカーは「トーンタビー」という麻のコーン型を使用した。僕たちは、少なくとも10種類の異なったスピーカーをテストしたが、最終的にこれがエリックの要求に近いものと判断して決めた。 キャビネットはバーチの合板で作り、古く見えるように細工したフェンダーツイードで覆った。 |
